Jörg Sulzer's involvement in the marine industry began at the age of 13 when he completed a deckhand course in Durban, South Africa. After leaving school, he qualified as a motor mechanic with a prestigious dealership in Cape Town, where he progressed to the position of Leading Hand Technician, working on premium marques including Rolls-Royce and Bentley.

He subsequently spent six years managing a high-output, fully automated industrial production operation before returning to his passion for the maritime industry.

​

Over the following years, Jörg served as Chief Engineer aboard commercial vessels operating throughout the Indian, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, as well as on private and expedition superyachts undertaking voyages around the world from Japan to the Caribbean. His experience with sailing yachts was further developed whilst leading a team of engineers for one of Greece's busiest luxury yacht charter fleets.

Drawing upon extensive experience in marine engineering, vessel operations and technical management, Jörg transitioned into marine surveying. He was awarded a Distinction in the Diploma in Yacht and Small Craft Surveying from the Maritime Training Academy and has since established Sulzer Marine Surveys & Consultancy to provide independent, thorough and technically robust surveying and consultancy services.

Today, clients benefit from a unique combination of practical engineering knowledge, operational experience and professional surveying expertise, enabling informed assessments of vessel condition, defects, damage and technical issues.
