SULZER MARINE

Surveys and Consultancy

How It Started

Jörg Sulzer started sailing at the age of 13, completing a deckhand course in Durban, South Africa. After school, he qualified as a motor mechanic at a prestigious motor dealership in Cape Town, becoming the Leading Hand Technician there and going on to work on marques such as Rolls Royce and Bentley. He then managed a high output, fully automated industrial production operation for 6 years, before the call of the sea became too strong to ignore.

He has been Chief Engineer on board working boats in the Indian and Pacific Oceans as well as on private and expedition superyachts crossing the globe from Japan to the Caribbean. His small yacht experience came from leading a team of engineers at an extremely busy luxury yacht charter company in Greece.

This experience and knowledge gained, combined with his meticulous work ethic and high level of competency, lead him to pursue a career in Marine Surveying. He obtained a distinction for the diploma in Yacht and Small Craft Surveying from the Maritime Training Academy, which gave him the specific knowledge and insight to start off in this compelling profession.

All of the photographs on this website were taken during his time on boats around the world, which as you can see is quite a varied and interesting portfolio!
